89% of SCI patients are discharged from hospital to a private home, 4.3% are discharged to a nursing home.

Average stay in hospital is 18 days; average stay in rehabilitation center is 39 days.
Mortality rates for SCI are significantly higher during the first year after injury than during subsequent years, particularly for severely injured patients
